Job Responsibilities

Pennoni Associates is looking for a Field Engineer to joining our Construction Services group with experience consistent, but not limited to:

  • Working in the field at construction sites as a quality assurance representative performing visual observations of various elements during construction
  • Performing construction materials testing
  • Monitoring one or more of the following for compliance with the drawings and specifications: reinforced concrete, structural masonry, soils and/or foundation construction, structural steel and bituminous concrete paving
  • Performing field testing of plastic concrete, masonry grout and mortar, concrete masonry units, soils, and bituminous concrete
  • Reading drawings and specifications, writing reports, creating sketches, communicating and coordinating with engineers, contractors and clients
  • Working with Senior Engineers in the development of in-situ load tests and performing structural assessment surveys of existing structures

 

Job Requirements

Required Attributes

  • Civil Engineer or Materials Engineer degree required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must be willing to work in the field performing some physical work, such as the sampling and field testing of construction materials
  • Capable of working from a ladder or scaffold.

 

Preferred Attributes

  • Good communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to properly document materials
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to work construction schedules, which may include overtime, and off-hours work
