Job Description

Pennoni is currently looking for a Graduate Highway Transportation Engineer with experience consistent, but not limited to:

  • Pennoni is currently seeking Bridge Engineers with experience consistent, but not limited to:

    • Structural design and analysis including but not limited to:
      • Bridges (Highway and Railroad)
      • Culverts
      • Retaining and Noise Walls
      • Overhead Sign Structures
    • Performing Bridge Inspections for various clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region.
    • Producing high quality technical writing for use in bridge inspection reports, specifications, studies, and other engineering documents
    • Utilizing Microstation to develop project deliverables and construction plans.
    • Using BrIM or BIM engineering software such as Bentley’s Open Bridge Modeler and ProStructures.
    • Working on multiple assignments concurrently with varying complexity and differing job responsibilities.
    • Working in a team environment under the supervision and mentorship of Senior Engineers.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will possess 0-3 years work experience in bridge engineering
  • Required education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field, Master’s degree a plus
  • Licenses preferred: EIT.  
  • Certifications preferred: Successful completion of FHWA-NHI-13005 (Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges) is a plus
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite and general knowledge of CADD; plan production experience with Microstation/AutoCADD is preferred.  Experience with BrIM Software is a plus.
  • Prior bridge engineering experience with DelDOT, MDSHA, VDOT, and/or PennDOT is a plus.
  • Occasional opportunities for domestic travel to perform bridge inspections.
  • Prior experience with BrIM or BIM work processes and/or modeling is a plus
  • Familiarity with production drafting via either Microstation or AutoCADD is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of Civil Engineering Principles such as structural analysis, steel/concrete design, basic hydrology/hydraulics, and basic geotechnical/foundation design
  • Knowledge and experience with structural analysis software such as SAP, STAAD, LEAP Bridge, LEAP Concrete, AASHTOWare BrR, BRASS, etc… preferred but not required.
  • Efficiently use engineering software and be able to quickly familiarize themselves with software which they may not be previously familiar with.
  • Ability to learn and apply new skills while simultaneously looking for and seizing opportunities to improve work products.
  • Leadership qualities and excellent interpersonal, verbal communication and written skills
  • Interacting with the local engineering community via leadership positions in professional societies is preferred and encouraged.
