Job Responsibilities

Pennoni Associates is currently seeking a Senior Laboratory Technician with experience consistent, but not limited to:

  • Performing hands-on construction materials laboratory testing
  • Meeting deadlines, managing workload and staffing to help ensure efficiency and profitability
  • Ensuring that the laboratory is a clean, organized and well maintained work space 
  • Ensuring that samples are handled, tested and reported properly, efficiently, cost effectively and on time  
  • The ability to perform testing in accordance with various ASTM or job performance specifications

Construction materials testing includes:

  • Portland cement concrete
  • Portland cement
  • Masonry products, including block, pavers and cast stone
  • High performance concrete
  • Freeze/thaw
  • Basic and complex soils testing
  • Aggregate



Job Requirements

Required Attributes:

  • Education: High School Diploma Required, AS or BS in a related discipline is a plus
  • Experience: 4-7 years
  • Licenses Required: None required but PE or ability to obtain a PE could be a plus
  • Computer Skills: Must be proficient with Windows based software. Microsoft Windows and the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word and Outlook. Will need to be able to work with and become proficient in the basic industry soils software and laboratory information management system (LIMS database).
  • Essential Software:Geosystems/gINT
  • Working knowledge of basic Geotechnical and concrete material laboratory testing procedures.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience with AMRL and CCRL accreditation procedures is a plus
  • Related Certification for construction materials testing (i.e. ACI, NJSAT, MARTCP, NICET, etc.) are a plus, but not required
  • Self-motivated individual, able to work well with others and to work well independently
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good management and supervisory skills
  • Willing and interested in doing hands-on testing of construction materials
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Able to lift and handle heavy testing samples on occasion
  • Willing and able to work occasional overtime as needed
