Job Responsibilities

Pennoni is currently looking for a Senior Water Resources Engineer to perform the following, but not limited to:

  • Providing design/management of related water resources tasks for site design projects, including but not limited to associated roadway drainage, E&S evaluation and design, Storm water management design, H&H design/reports, NPDES preparation and submission.
  • Working with clients as well as coordination with reviewing agencies. 
  • Coordinating with internal staff on major design decisions, work sharing requirements, and determining backlog.
  • Supporting the preparation of Statements of Interest and proposals to win new work
  • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and technical staff


Job Requirements

Required Attributes:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 4-8 years work experience in water resources engineering
  • Experience using AutoCAD required
  • Virginia PE preferred
  • Knowledge of Commonwealth of Virginia permitting, stormwater and erosion control regulations, and Chesapeake Bay TMDL requirements
  • Familiarity with local and state drainage design regulations and procedures
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, Adobe

Preferred Attributes:

  • Maryland or D.C. PE is a plus; CFM is a strong plus
  • Experience in H&H analysis using TR-55, TR-20, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HEC-1, HEC-2 and HY-8 required; Geomorphic and water quality monitoring is a strong plus
  • Experience in ArcGIS and AutoCAD Civil3D are a strong plus
