Job Responsibilities

Pennoni is seeking a Survey Technician to perform the following:
  • Work primarily in the field on ALTA, boundary, topographic, construction stakeouts and as built surveys
  • Collect survey data as required in accordance with industry and client specifications, scopes of work, and work plans
  • Drive stakes to set line & grade on construction projects
  • Know, understand, and demonstrate safe working/operating methods of assigned tools and equipment
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to be physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
    • Ability to carry survey equipment and supplies in remote, rugged, rural or urban surroundings
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time and/or walk long distances


Job Requirements

Required Attributes

  • Education: High school diploma, or equivalent, is required
  • Years of experience: Minimum of 1 - 3 years
    • Experience in surveying, ALTA surveys, Boundary Retracements, Topographic Surveys or Construction stakeouts a plus
  • Program Experience: Microstation, AutoCAD, full Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Must be experienced in controlling the function of surveying instruments and calculators
  • Be Willing and able to continually learn new techniques and processes as well as operate various types of equipment to become more efficient.
  • Must have the ability to: 
    • Work effectively with other technical professionals
    • Write legibly
    • Convey technical information 
    • Effectively respond to questions from co-workers, clients and the general public
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and written are essential
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed
  • Must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License


Preferred Attributes

  • Associate Degree or higher in a survey or engineering program
  • 1 – 3 years of experience in the role of Survey Technician / Instrument Operator a plus
  • Computer skills with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus
  • Experience with Leica GPS & Robotic Total Stations is a plus.
